Learning Experience
-
A Strong Literacy Foundation
PS 958’s literacy program design is informed by the most up to date research and includes daily direct phonics and vocabulary instruction in the early years. Our teachers are becoming diagnosticians who can support diverse learners and ensure success for all.
-
Project & Problem Based Learning
Students at PS 958 develop content knowledge through exploration in their own communities, as they learn to become the creative, real-world problem solvers we need in our future generations. Our PBL time leverages students’ strengths and interests and allows them to collaborate across grades and classrooms with peers and staff who share their passions and interests.
-
Strategic & Meaningful Collaboration
At PS 958, we have a team of experts in their field, including reading specialists, speech therapists and BCBA’s who engage in frequent, structured collaboration with our teaching team so that our instructional program is highly individualized and provides access to the most rigorous learning outcomes for every student.
-
Community & Family Partnerships
PS 958 partners with organizations in the community to provide students with the hands-on experiences that will make learning relevant and exciting. As students grow, they will engage in advocacy work and build intergenerational relationships to help them develop into citizens who’s positive impact will live beyond their time at our school.
